Therapy for pastors, priests, spiritual directors, chaplains, campus ministers, and others
Christian ministry can be hard. People look up to you. It's hard not to think that you have to be perfect. The pressure to offer meaningful support to the sick, grieving, or spiritually struggling can feel overwhelming. You do your very best to love and serve, but those under your care may criticize, bicker, or even launch campaigns against you. You may feel that you're not good enough. There's never enough of you to go around. You're always working.
People may expect you to be a perfect family member, too.
Together, we'll reflect on your experiences (stress, trauma, and loss come in different forms, some difficult to identify), reinforce good habits (rest and recovery are important), clarify values, increase resilience, work through relational challenges, and come to a deeper understanding of what truly matters and what really counts as a success or failure.
You'll understand the relational dynamics that you face daily with greater clarity. As you come to understand what you bring to the table (both strengths and weaknesses) and armed with knowledge about your own typical blind spots, you'll be better equipped to respond compassionately and wisely and lead others well.
You'll clarify your own needs and implement plans for rest and recovery to increase resilience and build your capacity to have a sustained impact, rather than being too burnt out to care for anyone, including yourself.
You'll release the nagging fear that you aren't doing the right thing, you aren't making an impact, or you'll be used up (read: constant stress, anxiety, depression, sleepless nights, etc.) and embrace greater peace, knowing that you are discerning thoughtfully, making daily life decisions according to your values, and investing in relationships that matter.
